Working Towards Goals: Building a Life with Purpose and Progress

At Daffodil Therapy and Care, we believe that goals are more than just checklists—they are the foundation of a meaningful and empowered life.

Whether big or small, goals give direction, build confidence, and create a sense of achievement. For the people we support, working toward goals is often the key to greater independence, improved wellbeing, and a stronger sense of identity.

Why Goals Matter

For many NDIS participants, life can sometimes feel shaped by systems, appointments, and supports. Goals shift that focus back to the individual—what they want, what they value, and what they are working towards.

Goals can:

  • Provide structure and motivation

  • Build confidence through achievement

  • Encourage independence and skill development

  • Create a sense of purpose and direction

  • Support mental health and overall wellbeing

And importantly—no goal is too small.

For one person, a goal might be gaining employment. For another, it might be leaving the house more often, learning to cook a meal, or rebuilding confidence after a difficult period.

Every step forward matters.

Identifying the Right Goals

Not everyone knows what their goals are straight away—and that’s okay.

This is where our team plays a vital role.

Our support coordinators and support workers take the time to truly get to know each participant—their story, their strengths, their challenges, and what a “good life” looks like to them.

We support participants to:

  • Explore what matters most to them

  • Identify strengths and interests

  • Break down bigger goals into achievable steps

  • Build confidence in decision-making

  • Feel heard, respected, and in control

Goal-setting isn’t rushed or imposed—it’s collaborative, flexible, and always participant-led.

Turning Goals into Action

A goal without action can feel overwhelming. That’s why we focus on how to get there—not just what the goal is.

Our support workers play a hands-on role in helping participants take those steps in everyday life.

This might look like:

  • Practicing daily living skills like cooking, shopping, or budgeting

  • Supporting someone to attend community activities or appointments

  • Building social confidence through real-life interactions

  • Encouraging independence while providing the right level of support

  • Celebrating progress—no matter how small

Our workers walk alongside participants—not ahead of them—offering guidance, encouragement, and consistency.

The Role of Support Coordination

Support coordinators bring everything together.

They ensure that:

  • Supports are aligned with the participant’s goals

  • Services are appropriate, high-quality, and effective

  • Barriers are identified and addressed early

  • Plans are used in a way that truly benefits the participant

They also advocate when needed—because sometimes achieving a goal means navigating systems, not just building skills.

Progress, Not Perfection

Working toward goals isn’t always linear.

There are setbacks, changes, and moments where things feel harder than expected. What matters is not perfection—but progress.

At Daffodil Therapy and Care, we recognise that:

  • Growth takes time

  • Confidence builds gradually

  • Setbacks are part of the journey

  • Every small win is worth celebrating

We meet people where they are—and support them to move forward at their own pace.

More Than Just Outcomes

For us, goal-setting isn’t just about ticking boxes in an NDIS plan.

It’s about helping people build a life they feel proud of.

A life where they have:

  • Choice and control

  • Confidence in their abilities

  • Meaningful connections

  • A sense of purpose

Because when people are supported to set and achieve their own goals, they don’t just gain skills—they gain belief in themselves.

Walking the Journey Together

At Daffodil Therapy and Care, we don’t just support goals—we support people.

We listen. We adapt. We celebrate. We stay.

Because every person deserves the opportunity to grow, to achieve, and to live a life that feels meaningful to them.

🌼 Your journey, growing with confidence—every step of the way.
