Proud to Support: Our Passion for the LGBTQI+ Community

At Daffodil Therapy Care, inclusion isn't a box we tick — it's part of who we are. We believe everyone deserves care that sees them fully, respects who they are, and makes them feel safe. For members of the LGBTQI+ community, that kind of affirming, judgement-free support can make all the difference, and we're proud to stand behind it.

Why this matters to us

People from the LGBTQI+ community can face real barriers when accessing care — from fear of being misunderstood to past experiences of not being respected. When someone has to explain or defend who they are before they can even get support, the care itself suffers. Our goal is simple: to be a place where our clients never have to do that. Where they're met with warmth, understanding, and genuine respect from the first hello.

A free education session, facilitated by Jayde Lowe

Recently, we ran a free education session focused on inclusive, affirming practice for the LGBTQI+ community. It was facilitated by our General Manager, Jayde Lowe, who brought both knowledge and heart to the conversation. The session covered practical ways to make care more inclusive — the language we use, the assumptions we should check at the door, and how to create a space where everyone feels they belong. Offering it free was a deliberate choice. Education that helps people feel safer and more respected shouldn't sit behind a paywall — it should be shared as widely as possible. Jayde developed this session in collaboration with the LGBTQIA+ advisory committee we have initiated. The session was informed by real people from the community, living with disability.

In collaboration with Plan Partners

We were proud to run this session in collaboration with Plan Partners, one of Australia's leading and most reputable NDIS plan managers. Operating Australia-wide, Plan Partners supports thousands of participants every day with plan management and support coordination, helping people navigate the NDIS and get the most from their plans. Collaborating with a trusted partner like Plan Partners meant we could reach more people and pool our shared commitment to inclusive, participant-focused care. It's a great example of what happens when organisations come together around a value they both believe in.

The honest picture

Inclusive practice is a journey, not a destination. Language evolves, understanding deepens, and there's always more to learn — running one session doesn't make an organisation perfect, and we'd never claim otherwise. What matters is showing up, staying open, and committing to keep improving. We also know that genuine inclusion has to be lived every day in how we treat people, not just taught in a room. But sessions like this one move us forward, spark important conversations, and reaffirm the standard we hold ourselves to.

Our commitment

We'll keep learning, keep listening, and keep creating a service where everyone — regardless of who they are or who they love — feels genuinely welcome. That's a promise we're proud to make.

Want to learn more about inclusive care at Daffodil Therapy Care, or collaborate with us on future sessions as part of the advisory committee? We'd love to hear from you.
