Living Our Values: The Heart of Daffodil Therapy and Care

At Daffodil Therapy and Care, our values aren't just words on a page—they're the foundation of every interaction, every care plan, and every relationship we build. They guide how our staff show up for the people we support, shaping a culture where genuine care comes first.

Our Four Core Values

Integrity

Integrity means doing the right thing, even when no one is watching. For our team, this looks like honest communication, following through on commitments, and being transparent with participants and their families. It means acknowledging when we don't have all the answers and working collaboratively to find solutions.

Our staff build trust by being consistent—showing up when they say they will, respecting confidentiality, and advocating fiercely for the people in our care.

Empowerment

We believe that every person has the right to make choices about their own life. Empowerment isn't something we do to someone—it's something we nurture with them.

In practice, this means:

  • Supporting participants to set their own goals

  • Providing information so people can make informed decisions

  • Celebrating independence, no matter how small the step

  • Stepping back when someone is ready to do something themselves

Our support coordinators and recovery coaches work alongside participants, not ahead of them. The goal is always to build confidence and capability, not dependency.

Holistic Support

People are more than their diagnosis or their NDIS plan. Holistic support recognises that physical health, mental wellbeing, social connection, and personal fulfilment are all interconnected.

Our integrated approach—bringing together support coordination, psychosocial recovery coaching, occupational therapy, nursing services, and disability support work—means we can address the whole picture. When a participant is struggling, we look beyond the immediate concern to understand what's really going on.

Personalised High-Quality Care

No two people are the same, and neither are their care needs. Personalised care means taking the time to understand someone's history, preferences, strengths, and aspirations—then tailoring our support accordingly.

High quality isn't just about clinical excellence (though that matters). It's about the small things: remembering how someone takes their tea, understanding that they prefer morning appointments, knowing which topics bring them joy. It's care that feels human.

How Our Staff Bring These Values to Life

Values only matter if they're lived. Here's how our team embeds them into daily practice:

Building Therapeutic Relationships Our staff understand that trust is earned through consistent, respectful actions. They maintain professional boundaries while creating a safe space where participants feel heard and valued. This balance—warmth with professionalism—is at the core of effective support.

Practicing Unconditional Positive Regard Borrowed from the work of Carl Rogers, this principle means accepting people without judgment. Our team sees participants as whole individuals worthy of respect—not problems to be fixed, but people with hopes, fears, and aspirations.

Adapting and Responding Needs change, sometimes quickly. Our staff are trained to be flexible, adjusting their approach as circumstances evolve while keeping the participant's goals at the centre.

Ongoing Reflection and Growth We encourage our team to reflect on their practice, seek feedback, and continue learning. Living our values isn't a destination—it's an ongoing commitment.

Why Ethics Matter in Care

Working within the NDIS and supporting people with disabilities or mental health challenges comes with significant responsibility. Ethical practice means:

  • Respecting autonomy and choice

  • Maintaining confidentiality

  • Being honest about what we can and can't provide

  • Advocating for participants when systems fall short

  • Recognising and addressing power imbalances in care relationships

At Daffodil Therapy and Care, ethics aren't a box-ticking exercise. They're woven into how we recruit, train, and support our staff—and how we hold ourselves accountable.

More Than Just a Client

The people we support are part of the Daffodil family. That means we celebrate their wins, sit with them in difficult moments, and never lose sight of their humanity. Our values of integrity, empowerment, holistic support, and personalised high-quality care aren't aspirations—they're our daily practice.

Because at the end of the day, this work isn't just about providing services. It's about building relationships that make a genuine difference in people's lives.
